The development of computerized 12-lead electrocardiograph (ECG) documentary system by hospitals is impeded by the encrypted and heterogeneous data format of clinical-used 12-lead ECG instrumentations, like as HP , Philips Pagewriter series. The primary goal of this research is to develop a DICOM-based 12-lead computerized ECG documentary management system and to facilitate 12-lead ECG interoperability among hospitals with implanted PACS. According to SCP-ECG data structure, (1) we developed an SCP-compatible to DICOM-ECG converter to extract 12-lead interpreted messages and raw waveform ECG data from clinical used 12-lead ECG instrumentations; (2) we also construct a practical computerized ECG documentary system by the implantation of a DICOM-ECG converter gate server connected with the hospital information system, and the DICOM-ECG database server; (3) by implanting previously developed wavelet algorithms , the ECG features can be identified and can allow clinicians to browse and interpret ECG with computer-assisted calculation. This developed computerized DICOM-based 12-lead ECG documentary system has successfully assisted the development of e-hospitals in Taiwan.
