Computers in Cardiology 2007

Rosanna Degani Young Investigator Award

Computers in Cardiology 2007 was proud to host the fifteenth Rosanna Degani Young Investigator Competition. Rosanna Degani was a pioneer in the field of electrocardiology from the Institute for Research on System Dynamics & Bioengineering in Padova and Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the 18th Computers in Cardiology Conference in Venice, September 1991. In her memory the Venice Local Organizing Committee and the Board of Directors of Computers in Cardiology established this award, whose purposes are to encourage young investigators and to provide a living memorial to Rosanna Degani.

On the basis of written manuscripts submitted before the meeting, four finalists were invited to Durham as guests of the Conference to present their research during the opening plenary session. All finalists were given an opportunity to answer questions on their research. The presentations and research papers were judged by a panel of experts.

The winner of the 2007 Rosanna Degani Young Investigator competition was F Maffessanti, Development of a Method for Left Ventricular Shape Evaluation Based on Surfaces Obtained by Real-Time 3D Echocardiographic Images, can be found on page 1 of the proceedings.

Gary and Bill Sanders Poster Awards

The 2007 conference presented the eleventh annual Poster Awards, donated and presented by Bill and Gary Sanders. Bill is a Past President of Computers in Cardiology. The four winners this year were AM Climent, K Cardona, GD Bass, and LH Lehman.

PhysioNet 2007 Challenge

The winners of the PhysioNet 2007 Challenge were M Mneimneh, H SadAbadi and M Ghasemi.

Future Meetings

The 2008 conference will be held at the University of Bologna, Italy, September 14 -17, 2008 (http://cinc2008.unibo.it).

The 2009 conference will be in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.
