Presentations
If your submission has been accepted, your acceptance letter indicates the session and format (oral or poster) assigned for your presentation.
Oral presentations
Length: The time allocated for each oral presentation is 10 minutes, followed by 5 minutes for discussion. Be considerate of the audience, who may wish to ask questions, and of other speakers in your session, and practice your presentation to be certain that you can complete it in the allotted time. Speakers are expected to adhere strictly to this schedule, which will be enforced if necessary by session chairs in order to finish sessions on time and to permit participants to move successfully from one parallel session to another.
The only exception to the 10-minute limit for oral presentations is for the four finalists in the Rosanna Degani Young Investigator Award competition, who are each allotted 15 minutes for their talks, followed by 5 minutes for discussion.
Formats for presentations: Prepare your presentation in .ppt (Microsoft PowerPoint format, which can also be created using OpenOffice) or in PDF format. If your presentation includes video content, use a format compatible with Windows Media Player. Bring your presentation to CinC on a USB memory stick or a CD, and allow at least 10 minutes prior to your session to load and check your presentation on the provided computer. A local staff member will be available to help.
Do not plan to connect your own computer to the provided projector. This wastes everyone's time, and in some cases it may not be possible. Use the provided PC.
Check in: Before the session begins, the session chairpersons need to know who will be presenting each scheduled paper. Help them by introducing yourself, and letting them know which paper you will be presenting.
Poster presentations
Maximum size: 121 cm (48") wide by 121 cm (48") tall for CinC 2014.
Note that poster dimensions vary from year to year; don't assume that a size that fit last year will fit this year.
Check in: Authors presenting posters must check in with the session chair in the exhibition centre during the 30 minutes prior to the poster sessions in which their presentations are scheduled.
Hanging posters: Poster stands and mounting materials will be provided. Posters are grouped by subject area, and each poster should be hung on the stand assigned to it (marked with a card corresponding to the page number of the abstract in the program book).
Discuss your work with other conference attendees during the poster session. Authors are required to be present at their posters during their assigned sessions. Authors presenting more than one poster in a session will normally find their posters assigned to adjacent locations; ask the poster session chair to reassign poster stands if necessary.
