Computers in Cardiology 2006

Introduction

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to present to you our annual scientific proceedings of Computers in Cardiology. This marks the 33rd anniversary of the original meeting that started in response to a question "Is there a forum where physicians, engineers, and computer scientists can discuss scientific problems in the area of computers in cardiology?"

We met in Spain for the first time, proudly aware that participants from Spain have over the years contributed significantly to Computers in Cardiology. The Polytechnic University of Valencia in the wonderful Mediterranean city of Valencia, Spain hosted this year's conference and we are especially grateful to Chema Ferrero and Javier Sáiz and the Local Organizing Committee for their tremendous effort in organizing one of our largest scientific programs to date. Valencia, which hosts the America's Cup in 2007, offered the participants an opportunity to visit a modern city with a rich history and enjoy the delicious local cuisine.

The Computers in Cardiology conference has evolved over the years to reflect advances in technology and the revolution in telecommunications. We will continue to be diligent in seeking new and exciting areas of scientific endeavors for our membership. Many attendees have been with us for many decades and helped to enrich Computers in Cardiology. To me the most exciting part of our history and future are the new participants that we continue to attract and who contribute to the success of our meeting.
